The Q Line Gold Home Theater Surround Sound System features 4 bookshelf satellite speakers and one center channel speaker, all utilizing SLS International's PRD100 Planar Ribbon Drivers made in the USA and woven Kevlar midrange drivers. Great Speakers and Great Receiver
I bought this system a few months ago for $499. It was a bargain at that price. Of course, most stores only had a few left at that time. So instea of risking losing it, I went ahead and got it. The receiver is a great one (it's actually a Sherwood 8601 in case you need to look up a universal remote code for it). The speakers are awesome.

These are the bomb for the money !
These are fabulous speakers for the money boys and girls. They came in a Home Theater in a Box system from Best Buy at $500 on a close out sale! The speakers themselves, because of the use of ribbon tweeter and kevlar woofer, found only in much more expensive speakers, are clear and open sounding. You get a good Sherwood rebranded a/v receiver, and powered sub too in the box!. They aren't available at BB anymore but you can get the speakers alone at SLS's web site for $799! At this price of $439 for the whole system it's a steal!

I researched and shopped till I dropped. Went to BB, Ultimate Electronics, American, and every place in between for 3 weeks. Looked at every review for every AV reciever and Speakers, and listened to about 24 systems. I remembered when SLS was mainly a Professional and Commercial market. Then they were sold at Best Buy a few years ago. They couldn't keep up with demands so BB cancelled the contract. These speakers are BUILT with quality. Only downfall is Reciever without HDMI inputs. Overcome with OPTICAL cable.
Av Express coment:You can run your HDMI cable from your blu ray and or DVD player straight to TV and get 1080p high def video. Then take a optical tolink cable from the blu ray or dvd player to receiver and get digital audio. Same digital audio as with hdmi cables.

This system is AWESOME! I did a lot of research on HTIB systems before I decided on this one. It is really high end quality at an affordable price. The sound quality is exceptional, the separation is exceptional, the powered sub-woofer is very powerful, the connectivity beats all other HTIB systems that I reviewed. The price is unbeatable for this kind of sound. The remote control is a bit "clunky" but then aren't most "universal" remotes!? Free shipping for the three boxes (110 lbs.) adds even more value. I am "WOW-ED" by the system every time I sit down to enjoy a movie, HD television, or even just the radio! I would recommend this system to anyone that wants to have an outstanding home theater experience.BTW, I'm pretty certain it is a "Sherwood" receiver/amp. The speakers are the EG5000 series

WOW-Wow-wow spectcular sound/price & quality units
WOW–Wow–wow on Sound quality is outstanding sounds better than $1500 systems I have heard- expensive looking speakers and receiver. Starting from opening very well packed packages, seeing the quality in the speakers, housings and weight of each unit is very impressive. I ordered two extra optical cables so I could use HDMI cable from my Samsung BluRay Rayer directly to my Samsung BluRay LED TV and than optical cable back to the receiver for the TV. Used the second to hook the Samsung BluRay for the audio to receiver which has two optical inputs which I do not think it mentions. The assembly is really easy since all cables(a nice 16 gauge with all ends soldered) are colored coded to the receiver and each speaker. Hardest think I encountered was programming the universal remote. The blue lights on subs match my Samsungs Blue Lights. I ordered the two sub-woofer system so I would not have to drive the subs hard. I think one would have been plenty even in our 21sq. ft room (volume 3500 cu. ft.) .There is no shortage of power for Bass on this system. I can rattle my three pane glass windows down stairs 30 ft away. NOW on the sound that comes out – instruments and voice sound tones so realistic like it is right next to you – no background static even at high volume.. You can actually hear the drums tones crisp and clear- not muted. On Bass fiddle the reveribation of each string is so crisp and clear. BluRay Movies you must hear for yourself –you are in your own theater with sound like you get at the theater. By the way they do not even mention the receiver has a sixth center rear channel already which is a great plus that I will be upgrading to after the new year. Best Quality for the Price on the Market in my opinion and will outlast most other speakers since they have Kelvar midrange drivers, ribbon tweeters, and great 8” dia sub-woofers..LOVE SYSTEM!

Incredible sound!
This is my second day with this incredible setup and I couldn't be more pleased. The sound this system creates is astounding! My living room is now a "Theater". I thought my Panasonic HT was good, but it can't touch this SLS for sound and function. I paired it with my old Sony 5 disc DVD player and movies with DTS sound are mindblowing! In fact, everything sounds great on this system. The Sherwood AVR does a fantastic job, no reason to upgrade it. Except I ordered a Sherwood HSB-6501 HDMI-Link A/V Switcher from Amazon for $133 that will take the component output from the AVR and output it in HDMI, and has two additional HDMI inputs, and optical in and out. Considering the "price" I paid for the AVR, $133 is a cheap upgrade to get HDMI. The sound from the SLS speakers is strong, crisp, and clear. The sub does an admirable job producing bass, and all the action onscreen sounds like it's happening right in front of you. And behind you. And over there. I don't think there is anything that can touch it in this price range. Or under $1000. Thank you AV Express for a wonderful experience, and a real "roomful of sound"!

Hard to beat the price!
The speakers are remarkable. I managed to burn up the first receiver because of poor ventilation - my fault entirely BUT this thing gets really warm. With my BOSE system, I never had a heat issue because the powerhandling on the BOSE is far less than the SLS Q-Line Gold. Anyways, I was pleased overall - once you see the quality of the components, you won't be dissappointed. Sound is exceptional.

Incredible Sound and Service
Impressive! I give them 5's for the product and service I did copious amounts of research on HTB prior to puruchasing SLS. In fact I ordered a system at Best Buy which was out of stock. So while I was waiting for it to come in, I came across SLS. Am I glad I did. First of all the SLS is a much better system than what I was looking at BB, and I saved more than $200.00.I love the quality and sound that the SLS produces. The service was impressive too. I had never set up a sound system as complete as SLS so this was new ground for me. the instructions were good. But just as important to me was their service. when I had a question, and I had several every time I called I got through to a person who was helpful and did not make me feel stupid for asking questions. How cool is that?

Beautiful, Full sound
I bought this system just before Christmas 2009 and promptly sat down to watch the entire Lord of the Rings movies with decent sound and HDTV. I don't know much about technical aspects of sound, but I know what I like. More then once I was scared out of my wits as a bird took flight from from the back speakers or a ringwraith flew through the room on a Nazgul. When the Witch King of Angmar's Nazgul screamed from the top of the dead city, the sound made me freeeze in my seat. The base rumbles through the entire 2700 square feet house and the music carries well to anywhere in my home. All my old music, VCR, TV, and DVD players synched with the one control and I am more than pleased with my decision to grab this deal.

Wow, if you were to pay $600.00 just for the speakers it would be worth it. Buy it for the speakers, you can always upgrade the receiver. The subwoofer lacks in music in realism but is great for action movies. I also did the "all the old action movies i own" thing and I was blown away by the sound. Buy it!

Blown away!
I just bought the 5.1 speakers because I already had the reciever and bluray player. The speakers blew me away! I cant say much for the sub but who cares for the price they are very musical and on theater the system just cranks. I am pushing 130 watts through them and they just get louder with all the clarity intact. I am going to buy a larger sub because I love the slam of a 12in sub but like I said bang for buck these speakers kick butt!AV Express Comment: Double check your phase switch on the sub, you could have some room cancellation going on in your room. You could also consider going with our two sub system which has a lot more bass slam than the single sub system.

SLS speakers are a great deal
SLS Q-line Gold is one of the very best deals in home theater..ever. No joke. This system was a bid at raising SLS awareness in the mass market. That was a failure. And worst they had some bad dealings with Best Buy over the whole affair. The speakers started out at $800 and were considered a great dealTheir ribbon-based tweeters are sharp as a tack and the sound is clean and full. SLS will go back to ultra-expensive speaker set ups and probably try to forget how they lost money on their Q-line endeavors but if you can get these while they last, you'd be a fool not to.

Let me start of by saying that when i was reading up on it i was a little skeptical. Even after the purchase i was "oh manning" myself hoping that it was a good buy. Once it came in off fed ex and i saw how many boxes it had i was beside myself. I got it home and started to open it up and i was amazed. I even thought OMG it might be tooo big and loud for my bed room. But once i got it all hooked up WHICH TOOK ME NO TIME AT ALL!!!!!!! was so freaking easy! My room had now come alive with sound. I would and i am acctually getting the 7.1 system for my fathers Man Cave..lol!!! BEST system i ever bought. Would i recc. to a friend...HELLS YEAH!!

For the money nothing comes close to the SLS Q-Line Gold 5.1 System. 99.9% of the time if it sounds too good to be ture it is, this is that .1% that is not to good to be true. You will not find an entire system that can equal the value and preformance and double the price. I was a very skepical, in fact I almost bought my system somewhere else. At the last minute I changed my mind and went with AV Express and the Q-Line Gold System. I'm glad i did, I now have an extra $350 in my pocket and a better system than what I almost purchased.

So far I have tried dvd, bluray, music cds, ps3 games (BTW, Killzone3 surround is crazy!), and karaoke (I have my own personal mini studio...hehe). THE SOUND IS SO CLEAR! I will purchase the 7.1 system to have extra speakers just in case. Once these speakers run out, they are gone forever. SLS does not do home theater anymore. But I believe they still do concert halls. BTW, thank you AV-Express for the fast shipping! Now I just want to re-watch all my favorite movies. I believe they are "Hidden Gem" speakers because you are getting concert hall, studio, etc., quality speakers for small phenomenal cost. At least for an entry level home theater system, not sure what can beat this for the price.

Very nice, Better than most all systems for the price on themarket.
Purchased the 5.1 system and have ordered the extra speaker to go 6.1 and the quality of sound is the best. Very easy to install with color coded wires that match the speaker and amp. Even purchased on system for my daughter for graduatuion.

Great system!
Had it now for a about 6 months. The AV rec is outdated and lacking HdmI, but overall performs very well if HdmI isn't necessary. Speakers are great. There are much better systems out there, but the SLS Q line system has no equal at under 500 dollars!

We are glad you are happy with your system. Note: HDMI is not needed for high quality sound. This system comes with digital inputs such as coaxial and optical fiber which delivers the same digital content as hdmi. Simply take the optical 0output of your tv and or blu ray and put into input. You should also note that this amplifier is class AB, not class D. Todays class D amplifiers are more efficient and cost less to build, but are not known to deliver the smooth clear sound as the class ab amplifiers.

Great speaker, good system
Really outstanding performance from the 5 speakers. These speakers handle volume well, are very clear and while they don't put out much base (4 inch woofers), they don't sound overly bright either! Outstanding for movies, and pretty good for music.
The subwoofer is average and for the price a very good buy.
The AV receiver, well, you are getting a good, older receiver at a very good price! This is not the correct system for very big rooms (or get the two sub system) and in my opinion, this system handles movie soundtracks better than music. But overall, very good home theater system for the buck!

omg....
This system is sick. First off it comes in 3 massive boxes and when you unbox everything you can really tell that the products are well made. the speakers are pretty loud and i know that other reviews say the sub is not to great but let me tell you, that at 50% power it shakes everthing thats in my apartment...freakin awesome haha
I would recommend this system to anybody, GREAT PRICE!!

Thought it was to good to be true-Sound is awesome
I saw this listing and really thought it was to good to be true and I rarely write reviews. I bit and bought one for my basement. I have two other home theater systems in my house from Klipsch and Dennon all costing well over what this SLS system costs. I had very little expectations and did not think it would even compare to my Klipsch and or Dennon system. I can't believe I am saying this but I enjoy watching movies and feel the sound quality is better than my much more expensive Klipsch system. The detail is very apparent things that are crisp and clear, I seem to be hearing content of the movie track I did not notice before. I like it loud and this system does not break up at high volumes and stays very clear and detailed. These speakers have a ribbon tweeter, 5 of them to be exact and I have to say, I am now a ribbon lover. I am not sure but I think it is the ribbon tweeter that makes everything crisp and very detailed without sounding harsh. Only con would be that the bass could be a little stronger and deeper. I ended up getting a second sub with this system and now the bass is great. I really couldn't be happier and would highly recommend this sytem. What I thought was to good to be true apparently isn't.
